Christa Heise-Batt

Christa Heise-Batt (born January 25, 1937 in Wohlde , Schleswig-Holstein Province , Free State of Prussia ) is a German foreign language correspondent , Low German author and theater actress .

Life

Growing up in the Schleswig-Holstein landscape of Stapelholm , Low German was the language of Heise-Batt's childhood, to which she has remained literary ever since . After finishing school in Husum and later in Bad Segeberg , she studied Spanish , French and English in Hamburg . After completing her language studies, she worked for several years as a foreign language correspondent in the USA , South and Central America .

In 1965 Heise-Batt came back to Germany, settled in Glashütte and began writing Low German texts, with her experiences abroad often providing the material. Several books with Low German stories and poems as well as numerous contributions to anthologies were created .

She played in Low German theater plays for over 20 years and gave Low German readings , among others. a. in the Ohnsorg Theater . She had her artistic home in the Hamburg cabaret Die Wendeltreppe von Dirks Paulun , where she met personalities such as Gabriel Laub , Siegfried Lenz , Hans Scheibner and Wilhelm Wieben .

Heise-Batt also worked for the radio . She worked with Gerd Spiekermann at NDR 90.3 and wrote articles for NDR 1 Welle Nord in Kiel . In addition, she taught Low German at the adult education center in Tangstedt for almost ten years .

  • 2015: Medal for faithful work in the service of the people of the city of Hamburg
