Christabel Nettey (born June 2, 1991 in Brampton ) is a Canadian long jumper .
Athletic career
Christabel Nettey gained her first international experience at the 2007 Youth World Championships in Ostrava , where she retired in the 100 meter hurdles and long jump qualification and won the bronze medal in the Canadian sprint relay (1000 meters) in 2: 09.08 min. Two years later she won the silver medal with 6.05 m at the Pan American Junior Championships in Port of Spain and in 2012 she won the U23 NACAC championships in Irapuato with a width of 6.18 m . In 2013 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Kazan and was eliminated from the qualification with 6.22 m, as well as at the World Championships in Moscow with 6.47 m. She then won the bronze medal behind the two Polish women Anna Jagaciak and Teresa Dobija at the Francophonie Games in Nice with 6.63 m .
The following year, she took bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a jump of 6.49 m, behind Nigerian Ese Brume and Jazmin Sawyers from England. Then she was fourth with 6.35 m in the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech . In 2015 she won the Pan-American Games in Toronto with 6.90 m and qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where she finished fourth with 6.95 m in the final . The following year, she took the first time at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in part and retired there with 6.37 m in the qualification of, as well as in the World Championships in London the following year, where 6.36 m not for a finals ranged . In 2018 she finished seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with a width of 6.63 m and then won the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast with 6.84 m .
From 2013 to 2018, Nettey was the Canadian long jump champion every year. She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in law and social sciences .
