Career
Player career
Christian Brittig began his career at his home club, EV Landshut , for which he played 267 games in the first division between 1984 and 1992 . From 1992 to 1994 he played in the 2nd division , first for EC Kassel , then for EHC Essen West . For the 1994/95 season Brittig signed a contract with the reigning champions Mad Dogs Munich , which, however, had to cease playing during the season for financial reasons. Brittig played the rest of the season with the Augsburg Panthers . He then moved to the Preussen Berlin, which appeared as Berlin Capitals from the 1996/97 season . In the 1999/2000 season Brittig completed 14 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for GEC Nordhorn , as well as 38 games in the major league for EV Landshut, where he stayed until 2003. He then moved to the DEG Metro Stars in the DEL , where he was active for two more years, and then gained his first experience in the coaching field as an assistant to Don Jackson for two more seasons .
Brittig also played for several years in the German national team and took part in the 1988 Olympic Games and the 1990 Ice Hockey World Championship .
Coaching career
In the 2008/09 season Brittig was head coach of the Bietigheim Steelers in the 2nd division, which he was able to lead to the championship title straight away. However, the rise to the DEL failed because of the infrastructure. In the following season, the Steelers only reached fourth place, and on November 23, 2010 Brittig was dismissed from bottom of the table after a 1: 5 defeat at the Hanover Indians . On March 19, 2012, DEG announced that Brittig will return to Düsseldorf as head coach from the 2012/13 season.
