The Maddogs Munich were an ice hockey team from Munich that was a founding member of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
The team emerged from the attempt to remove the professional team of the EC Hedos Munich from the indebted club, which u. a. had accumulated millions in debts through expensive purchases and player salaries and was supposed to take part in the form of a GmbH practically as the "successor" team of the reigning German ice hockey championship 1994 EC Hedos Munich at the start of the first season of the German ice hockey league.
The prerequisites for the granting of a license could practically only be met at the last moment.
However, on December 18, 1994, the Maddogs Munich made their last league game in Nuremberg . On the same weekend, the team was signed off from the game. The players tried in vain to have the already sold out point game at EV Landshut take place on the following Tuesday.
At the time of deregistration, the team had played 27 games (17 wins, 1 draw, 9 defeats), including 12 home games (9 wins, 3 defeats) and 15 away games (8 wins, 1 draw, 6 defeats). The games that were not played in the DEL were counted as a 0-0 draw and Munich was deleted from the table.
Since the outsourcing from the association had not been carried out legally correctly, the parent association EC Hedos Munich eV went bankrupt at the beginning of 1995 with a debt of around 15 million D-Marks .
