Christian Bronsard (born December 25, 1977 in Lahr ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has spent eleven seasons in various professional leagues in North America and Europe .

Career

Bronsard began his career in 1995 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec with the Hull Olympiques , for which he was on the ice for two years. In the 1996/97 season he and his team won both the Coupe du Président and later the Memorial Cup . Bronsard received numerous awards for his achievements, including the Trophée Guy Lafleur as the most valuable player in the playoffs. In the 1997/98 season he played internationally for Team Canada and won the Spengler Cup . He then moved to the International Hockey League for the Manitoba Moose . Over the next two seasons he went on the ice for the Syracuse Crunch and Québec Citadelles in the American Hockey League and the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks in the ECHL .

In the 2001/02 season he stood between the posts of the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League , after he had initially played for the Baton Rouge Kingfish . From 2002 to the end of 2003 he was active in the Russian Super League for HK Sibir Novosibirsk . In early 2004, after internal problems, he moved to the British Elite Ice Hockey League for the Sheffield Steelers , with whom he was able to win both the main round and the play-offs . From 2004 to 2006 he went back to Germany and played for EHC Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . He then moved to France for HC Briançon , where he was in the squad until 2008. After that, Bronsard ended his career.

Bronsard was born in Germany to Canadian parents with whom he moved back to Canada at a young age. He is married and has one child who was born on January 16, 2005 in Freiburg im Breisgau .

On October 30, 1999, Christian Bronsard was allowed to register as a goal scorer in an AHL game. An opponent's bad pass found its way into the empty goal and Bronsard was the last player on his team to touch the puck .
