Christian Gasc (* around 1946 in Dunes , Tarn-et-Garonne ) is a French costume designer .

Life

Christian Gasc has been working as a costume designer for film since the mid-1970s, after the director Liliane de Kermadec hired him for her film Aloïse , which took part in the 1975 competition for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival . In 1976 Gasc designed the costumes for Jeanne Moreau's directorial debut In the Spotlight . In the same year he began collaborating many times with director André Téchiné , when he entrusted him with the costume design for his film Barocco . Other joint productions included the films Encounter in Biarritz (1981), Scene of Crime (1986) and Changing Times (2004), in each of which Catherine Deneuve played a leading role. Gasc also worked with the Nouvelle Vague directors François Truffaut ( The Green Room , 1978) and Jean-Luc Godard ( Passion , 1982). In 1986 for Téchinés Rendez-Vous he received his first nomination for the César in the category Best Costumes , which he won for the first time in 1996 for the opera film Madame Butterfly .
