Christian Löber (General Superintendent)
Christian Löber , also Christian Loeber (born January 22, 1683 , other date: February 2, 1683 in Naschhausen near Orlamünde , † December 26, 1747 in Altenburg ) was a German Protestant clergyman.
Life
Christian Löber was the son of Christoph Heinrich Löber (born October 25, 1634 in Weimar ; † November 1, 1705 in Orlamünde), pastor and superintendent and his wife Anna Katharina († November 13, 1700 in Orlamünde), daughter of Christoph Schmidt. He still had six siblings and ten half-siblings, of whom his sister Anna Sophie Löber was married to the Göttingen university professor and later deacon Johann Samuel Heumann (1665–1722).
He attended school in Rudolstadt and matriculated at the University of Jena in 1698 ; In 1700 he obtained his master's degree there. During his studies he learned the oriental languages with Johann Andreas Danz and heard philosophical lectures with Johann Paul Hebenstreit , mathematics with Georg Albrecht Hamberger , in history with Burkhard Gotthelf Struve , and in theology with Friedemann Bechmann , Valentin Veltheim , Philipp Müller and Johann Paul Lifting dispute.
He was ordained in Altenburg in 1702 and was his father's substitute in Orlamünde. In 1705 he went on a scientific trip and in 1706 became an adjunct of the philosophical faculty of the University of Jena. In 1709 he was appointed regional church inspector and school inspector for Altenburg .
In 1711 he was appointed superintendent in Ronneburg and, as the successor to Karl Andreas Redel (1664–1730), in 1731 general superintendent in Altenburg; there he became a church councilor , consistorial councilor and court preacher in 1738 . During this time he also received his doctorate as Dr. theol. at the University of Jena in 1714.
After his death, Johann Christian Stemler followed him as general superintendent.
Christian Löber was married to Dorothee Sophie (* 1697; † March 8, 1771 in Altenburg), daughter of the official adjunct Jacob Abraham Börner († October 17, 1722 in Ronneburg) in Ronneburg since 1712. Together they had several children, of which have reached adulthood:
- Traugott Christiane Dorothea Löber (born March 31, 1724 in Ronneburg; † December 15, 1788 in Dresden ), poet, married to the Erfurt lawyer Gabriel Heinrich Lilien (1693–1744);

- Gotthold Ernst Löber (born November 21, 1725 in Ronneburg, † December 1, 1784 in Dresden); Electoral Councilor and Personal Medic in Dresden;
- Gottwerth Heinrich Löber (born June 2, 1729, † March 20, 1761 in Schmölln );
- Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Löber (born October 3, 1733; † January 21, 1753 in Jena); Student at the University of Jena;
- Christian Joseph Löber (born August 14, 1743; † December 22, 1794 in Vorsfelde ), official and rural physician in Gommern and since 1778 master of the order of the Masonic grand lodge Indissolubilis in Berlin .
His grandson was Gottwerth Heinrich Löber (born May 3, 1760 in Schmölln, † September 15, 1808 in Kahla ), pastor and superintendent in Kahla.

Writing
He was a collaborator on the revised Ernestine Bible work and wrote not only memorial sermons and programs in 1722, but also a history of Ronneburg and a complicated message from the Salzburg emigrants who passed through Ronneburg from June 10 to 13 , which was published in 1732. He also dealt with the writing of hymns.
