Christian Ludwig von Kenitz

Christian Ludwig von Kenitz (* August 1724 on Gut Wolletz near Angermünde in the Uckermark ; † October 11, 1797 in Falkenberg , Pyritz district ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the "Kenitz on foot" regiment named after him .

Life

origin

Christian Ludwig was the son of the captain of the same name of the "Garrison Regiment Manteufel" Christian Ludwig von Kenitz (* 1692 in Wolletz; † May 3, 1758 near Schweidnitz ) and his wife Ilse, née von Wolden. His father died in the Seven Years' War of the wounds he suffered during the siege of the Schweidnitz fortress .

Military career

In 1739 Kenitz joined the Prussian "Regiment von Bredow on foot" as a private corporal and in 1743 became an ensign . During the Silesian Wars he fought in the battles of Mollwitz , Chotusitz , Hohenfriedberg and Lobositz . In 1752 he became a prime lieutenant .

In the Seven Years' War he got his own company after the battle of Prague . Then he fought at Roßbach , Kunersdorf and Torgau . He was wounded in the battles near Lobositz, Kunersdorf and Torgau. In 1762 he was promoted to major and received a grenadier battalion, which was formed from the grenadier companies of the regiments "Bevern zu Fuß" and "Alt-Stutterheim" . He fought under General von Hülsen in Saxony against the imperial Austrian Habsburgs .

On January 20, 1772 he became lieutenant colonel and in 1773 commander of the “Bevern on foot” regiment. In 1776 he became a colonel and in 1780 received the Pour le Mérite . In 1783 he became chief of the defeated regiment "Möllendorf on foot". On May 20, 1784 he became major general . A few years later, on August 11, 1790, he was also appointed lieutenant general. In 1793 he retired.

Property ownership

In 1781 Kenitz bought the manor Groß Pobloth in the Fürstenthum district , but sold it again after a few years.

In 1789 he bought the Falkenberg manor in the Pyritz district , which his widow sold in 1798 to Colonel Friedrich Wilhelm von Braunschweig .

Marriages and offspring

Kenitz was married twice. His first wife was on July 21, 1763 in Stettin Katharina Dorothea von Lode, widowed von Zastrow from the house of Gramenz. From this marriage daughter Christiane Juliane (born December 18, 1764 in Stettin, † February 16, 1787 in Königsberg ) emerged. He married his second wife on November 16, 1783 in Stettin: Charlotte Christiane Juliane von der Osten , widowed von der Mühlen (* July 1740; † September 7, 1800 in Arnswalde). This marriage remained childless.
