In China, the spread is known for the provinces of Anhui , Fujian , Guangdong , Guangxi , Guizhou , Hebei , Heilongjiang , Henan , Hubei , Hunan , Jiangsu , Jiangxi , Shandong , Sichuan and Yunnan . It grows there at heights of 100 to 2900 meters both on mountain slopes, roadsides, fields, under bushes in humid locations near rivers and salty spots on beaches.
The fall chrysanthemum is one of the most important parents of the garden chrysanthemum . In its original area of distribution it is often confused with the cultivated forms, so that its natural area of distribution cannot be clearly defined.
