Location of the Clausewitz barracks in Lower Saxony |
The Clausewitz-Kaserne is one of Carl von Clausewitz called barracks of the Armed Forces , which the center of located southeast of Nienburg / Weser in the district Langendamm located.
location
The Clausewitz barracks located east of Federal Highway 6 at the address Am Rehhagen 10. At the barracks is a training area attached.
history
The barracks was built as part of the deployment of the Bundeswehr in 1956 based on designs by Friedrich Wilhelm Kraemer . It is noteworthy that construction began on August 28th and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on December 13th. At this point in time, Nienburg could already look back on a long garrison history.
The history of the barracks is closely linked to Panzer Brigade 3 and its predecessors, although other units were also stationed there. After the brigade was disbanded in 1993, the occupancy of the barracks was reduced from around 3,000 soldiers to around 900 soldiers in 2017. Since the Electronic Warfare Battalion 912 (EloKaBtl 912) and the predecessor of the Multinational CIMIC Command were set up in the barracks in 2003 , which are also included in the 2011 deployment concept , the location is considered to be secure in the medium term. In addition to the Clausewitz-Kaserne were on the Nienburg site after the Second World War , among other things still on behalf of the Wehrmacht built Mudra (which from 1950 to 1996 from the 21st Engineer Regiment of the army barracks Army of the Rhine was used), the 1,960 Bundeswehr Technical School, founded at the Verden street (which is now used as the city archive), the district military replacement office on Berliner Ring (which now houses the district and labor courts), the clothing store on Ziegelkampstraße, the defense district command on Breslauer Straße and a pioneer water training area on Luise-Wyneken-Straße . Furthermore, there was a close connection to the 32nd US Army Field Artillery Detachment via the rocket artillery battalion 1 , which operated the special ammunition camp Liebenau as part of the nuclear participation .
