occupation

Collide (English for " collide ") is a German - British - American action thriller by director Eran Creevy , which was mainly shot in Cologne and the surrounding area, and thus the first Hollywood film to come from Cologne. The German premiere took place in the presence of the actors on August 1, 2016 in the drive-in cinema in Cologne-Porz.

action

The young American Casey, who has turned away from his past as a car thief and now lives with his girlfriend Juliette in Cologne , risks everything when he learns that she needs a large sum of money for a vital operation: he settles for a supposedly lucrative one Job for the dealer Geran and finds himself between the front lines of a smuggling war that he fights with the rich businessman and drug lord Hagen Kahl. With five million euros in drug money, he suddenly found himself on the run from numerous persecutors, and the motorway became the scene of a chase. Casey manages to escape again and again until Hagen Kahl finds out how he can force him to turn back.

Filming

Filming began on May 5, 2014 and took place almost entirely in Cologne and the surrounding area ( Monschau , Odendorf ). So this is the first Hollywood film that was shot in Cologne. The chase filmed in Monschau lasted nine days. All in all, the shooting took just under three months. During this time, the four main actors also lived in the Hyatt Hotel in Cologne, which was centrally located to all of the filming locations, as they are mainly located in downtown Cologne.

Since the biggest chase scenes took place on the autobahn, it was decided to film on the new route of the federal autobahn 4 , which runs between Kerpen and Düren and was not yet open to traffic at the time. A total of 15 red Citroën C5s , three Mercedes-Benz MLs and three Porsche Cayennes were used for this shoot . Nobeo's green screen studios in Hürth were used for the car interior scenes .

After filming on the Autobahn was finished, production was relocated to the Neustadt-Süd district of Cologne, where the " Showdown " with all the main actors was filmed for two weeks on Zülpicher Platz and in the Stiefel bar . For this purpose, the Zülpicher Straße was partially closed and the Cologne light rail line 9 was diverted. The Hohenzollern Bridge was also one of the filming locations for the film, as was the Domplatte , which is nearby.

In order to film a rave, the director Creevy decided to hold a real music event at the Odonien venue in Cologne. That's why an event was announced via Facebook and invited to participate, for which an extra salary was paid.

In 2015, Creevy decided on a different ending, so re- shooting was necessary. In addition to the showdown that takes place at Zülpicher Platz, he decided to film in the Breslauer Platz subway station . Only Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones were involved in the shooting of the main actors, who shot the last action scenes together with the stunt people from the Hürth company Action Concept.

Other locations were the Excelsior Hotel Cologne , the Cologne-Weidenpesch horse racing track and Felder in Meschenich near the Left Rhine route .

Film production companies were 42, Automatik Entertainment, DMG Entertainment, Hands-on Producers, IM Global Film Fund and Silver Pictures.

marketing

The planned title was initially the German word "Autobahn", before the English title "Collide" was chosen.

The film was originally scheduled to be released by Relativity Media on October 30, 2015 . However, when Relativity filed for bankruptcy, the producers had to find a new distributor. In September 2015, Open Road Films announced that it would distribute the film. Finally, August 19, 2016 was set as the theatrical release. The first English trailer appeared on YouTube on June 1, 2016 , and the German trailer came out two weeks later. The film was released in Germany on February 24, 2017 on DVD and Blu-ray.

Trivia

The main roles were Zac Efron and Amber Heard , but they later left the project.

This time, the dubbing voice for Ben Kingsley was not Peter Matic , but Wolfgang Zahl .
