Michael Epp (* 1983 in Konstanz ) is a German - British actor .

Life

Michael Epp grew up in Allensbach in Baden-Württemberg . He is the son of a German and a British woman and was raised bilingually (German / English). In addition to German citizenship, he also has British citizenship. After graduating from a commercial high school in Konstanz (2003), he first completed a journalistic internship in the sports department of Südkurier . After his community service he decided to become an actor.

From 2005 to 2007 he completed a three-year acting course at the HB Studio of Acting in New York 's Greenwich Village . After completing his training, he stayed in New York, where he lived and worked for a total of seven years. He played mainly theater on various smaller New York stages, acted in a few short films and also had minor television roles.

Epp has been in front of the camera regularly for German-language film and television productions since 2012, but has also worked in English-language and international productions. He had his first television roles in Germany a. a. in the television film Die Holzbaronin . In the second season of the television series Weissensee , which was broadcast from September 2013 and won the German Actor Award in the category “Best Ensemble”, he played a. a. at the side of Katrin Saß , the young pianist Malte Ulbricht.

His previous cinema works include the horror thriller Like (2014), the YouTuber comedy Potato Salad - Don't Ask! (2015; as Kommissar Manni), the AKIZ film Der Nachtmahr (2015; as police officer Schonrath), the multiple award-winning AKIZ film at the Max Ophüls Prize , the science fiction film We Are the Flood (2016; as soldier Mike) as well as the English-language and international productions The Childhood of a Leader (2015, with Bérénice Bejo and Robert Pattinson ), Collide (2016), Beyond Valkyrie: Dawn of the Fourth Reich (2016; as a brutal SS man Karl Krauss), Denial (2016; in the role of SS-Manns Hans Stark ), Another Mother's Son (2017, with Jenny Seagrove as the leading actress) and Unlocked (2017, with Michael Douglas , Orlando Bloom and John Malkovich ).

Epp also had u. a. Episodic roles in the German TV series Morden im Norden (2014; inter alia as referee and murder victim Michael Rost), SOKO Wismar (2015; as fiancé David Meinecke) and SOKO Stuttgart (2015; as suspected husband Wolf Fehling). In the ARD series In all friendship - The young doctors , he was seen in three episodes in 2015 as handball player Eric Thalbach; he played the friend of the regular cast doctor Julia Berger ( Mirka Pigulla ). He has also appeared in several British television series and mini-series ( Crossing Lines , War and Peace , SS-GB ). In the British- German crime series The Mallorca Files , which has been broadcast since November 2019, Epp took on one of the leading roles in the episode as a German winemaker on Mallorca who is threatened and asked to leave the island. In the ZDFneo detective series Dunkelstadt (2020) he took on one of the episode roles as a successful image consultant who is massively threatened.

After his permanent return to Germany, Epp, who has been married since 2015, settled in Berlin , where he lives with his wife.
