history
From High Dörnberg the village derives its name from this and the barons of Dornberg , which until the 13th century were based here in the 11th. In 1074, Siegfried I, Archbishop of Mainz, issued the deed of donation for Hasungen Monastery, in which the churches in Ehlen and Dörnberg are mentioned, which thus fell to the monastery. The 13th and 14th centuries gave Dörnberg a small pottery and brewing rights, which led to an upswing in settlement.
The previously independent municipality of Dörnberg was merged with the municipality of Ehlen on December 31, 1971 as part of the regional reform to form the new municipality of Habichtswald.
