As a result, there were several changes in leadership due to the drivers' mandatory stops. After around 46 minutes, Mike Rockenfeller , the last driver, came into the pit lane , restoring the actual order in which di Resta only led ahead of Auer and Müller.
Di Resta won the race ahead of Auer and Müller. For di Resta it was the first win of the season and for the second year in a row he won a day at Hungaroring. The fastest lap went Auer in 1: 38.812 minutes. The BMW drivers did not score any points in this race.

Auer was able to maintain his lead after the start. A little further back in the field, Müller and Glock came into contact at turn two, which resulted in the BMW driver turning and the second Glock in the championship.
After about five minutes of racing, it started to rain. A little later Augusto Farfus was the driver in the field who made a pit stop to put rain tires on. At his own stop after about eleven minutes, Auer slipped his vehicle on the wet asphalt of the pit lane, spun and hit two stewards . Mortara and Spengler had a similar experience. Due to the rain and the accidents in the pit, the race was interrupted after 13 minutes with the red flag . One of the control rooms that Auer hit suffered an open fracture of a tibia . In total, three people were injured as a result of these accidents.
At around 2:20 p.m., the race was initially continued behind the safety car and then released again. Shortly before the end of the race, Müller was the last driver to pit. In the meantime Wittmann had taken over the lead in the "adjusted" order of the drivers who had already completed the mandatory stop. Behind it were Glock, Eng, and Rockenfeller.
Wittmann won the race ahead of Glock and Eng, with which BMW achieved a triple victory. Daniel Juncadella drove the fastest lap in 1: 38.417 minutes.
With second place, Glock again passed Paffett (79), who had no points on Sunday, and took the lead with 90 points. Di Resta remained in third place (67). In the brand classification, Mercedes (294) was ahead of BMW (236) and Audi (112).
A few hours after the end of the race, Auer, Mortara and Spengler were taken out of the classification due to the incidents in the pit lane.
