Dan Forest

Dan Forest (born October 15, 1967 in Harrisonburg , Virginia ) is an American politician . Since 2013 he is Vice-Governor of the State of North Carolina .

Career

Dan Forest is the son of former Congressman Sue Wilkins Myrick . He studied architecture at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte . He then worked in this profession, in which he rose to become a senior partner in the largest architecture firm in North Carolina, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting . Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In 2012, Forest was elected lieutenant governor of North Carolina in a very close election alongside Pat McCrory . He still holds this office today. In doing so, he became Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . At the same time he is a member of his state's education committee as well as several other committees. In 2016, Forest was confirmed in office for a further four years. Since January 2017 he has been deputy to the new Democratic governor Roy Cooper .
