Career

society

Prodan began his career in 1984 in his hometown with CSȘ Satu Mare . In 1988 he moved to the capital to AS Victoria Bucharest , but returned in 1990 after the club's forced dissolution and joined Olimpia Satu Mare . In 1991 Prodan came into the squad of the first team that played in Divizia B at the time . Soon afterwards, the Romanian top club Steaua Bucharest noticed him, who signed him in autumn 1992. On 8 November 1992, he went to his first race for Steaua in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A .

Prodan rose to become a regular player in his first season and won the championship with Steaua. This was followed by three more and a cup win before he moved abroad during the winter break of the 1996/97 season and joined Atlético Madrid . While he was used regularly in Madrid in the second half of the season , he played less in the coming season . In the summer of 1998 he moved to the Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premier League .

His time in Scotland was marked by a protracted knee injury, so that he never played for the Rangers. In the spring of 2000 he returned to Romania, where he first tried his comeback at Steaua Bucharest. It was not until the 2000/01 season that he came more often to his new club AS Rocar Bucharest and also managed to return to the national team.

After the relegation of Rocar Prodan moved to league rivals FC Național Bucharest , where he was hardly used in the first half of the 2001/02 season as well as in the second half at Messina Calcio . After another season with Național, he ended his career in the summer of 2003.

On November 22, 2005, Prodan was appointed sports director of the youth national teams by the Romanian Football Association . In March 2014 there was a dispute over the U-17 selection with association president Răzvan Burleanu , who dismissed Prodan and two years later was awarded damages in court for insult.

Prodan returned from February 8, 2016 to March 11, 2016 as sports director of the first division club CS Concordia Chiajna again for a short time in professional football.

National team

Daniel Prodan played 54 games for the Romanian national soccer team and scored one goal. He made his debut on June 2, 1993 against the selection of Czechs and Slovaks in qualifying for the 1994 World Cup . A year later he was in the squad at the finals in the USA and was used in all five Romanian games. Also two years later at the European Championships in England Prodan was part of the Romanian squad and was used in two games.

Because of a knee injury Prodan had to end his international career in 1998, before he made his comeback on November 15, 2000 against Yugoslavia . He played his last international match on June 2, 2001 as part of qualifying for the 2002 World Cup against Hungary .
