David Webster Flanagan

David Webster Flanagan (born January 9, 1832 in Cloverport , Breckinridge County , Kentucky , †  May 5, 1924 in Henderson , Texas ) was an American politician . In 1871 he was acting lieutenant governor of the state of Texas.

Career

David Flanagan was the son of James W. Flanagan (1805-1887), the US Senator and lieutenant governor of Texas. During the Civil War he served in the Confederation Army . After the war, he pursued a political career in Texas as a member of the Republican Party and was elected to the State Senate. After the death of President Pro Tempore and acting Vice-Governor Donald Campbell , he took over these two offices in 1871 for a short time until the end of the legislative period.

In 1875 Flanagan took part as a delegate to a constitutional convention of his state. Between 1897 and 1913 he worked for the tax authorities. Over the course of several decades he played an important role at the Republican National Conventions . Flanagan was also a horse and rancher in Rusk County . He died on May 5, 1924 in Henderson, where he was also buried.
