Death Row is the tenth studio album by the German heavy metal band Accept . It was released on October 1, 1994 on RCA Records .
Origin and style
The album was recorded for the first time in the Roxx studios, with drummer Stefan Kaufmann as the sound engineer . Stefan Schwarzmann already played the drums on two songs on Death Row . Kaufmann had to leave the band on the following tour because of a back pain. On the album, the band tried to take a harder course than on the previous album and combined the traditional style elements with some - at the time modern - borrowings from the more extreme metal area.
reception
Death Row in Germany reached place 32. Jason Anderson of Allmusic .com awarded 1.5 out of five stars. He criticized Kaufmann's production as "a little weak" compared to the previous album Objection Overruled . The band didn't do justice to the song material in the studio. Alex Straka from Powermetal.de wrote: " Death Row is quite simply a very good Accept album, which doesn’t quite come close to its predecessor Objection Overruled , but is more than worthy of the Stahlschmiede Accept."
