Denis Krief

Denis Krief (* in Carthage , Tunisia) is a Franco-Italian opera director .

For his productions he has been voted director of the year several times by the Italian press .

Life

Denis Krief was born in Tunisia and grew up in Paris , where he first studied piano and singing. After completing his studies, he began to devote himself to musical theater . Since 1985 he has been employed as a director by various French theaters. His career reached a temporary high point when he staged the opera Benvenuto Cellini by Hector Berlioz at the Opéra de la Bastille in his hometown.

This production brought him the attention of international opera critics, which resulted in a number of international engagements. Since then he has mainly worked in Italy, France, Russia , Austria , Germany and Japan .

The stage sets and costumes for his productions designs Denis Krief always himself. He speaks French, among others, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, English and German.
