The University of Denver ( DU ) is a privately owned university in Denver , Colorado . An average of 9800 students are enrolled at DU. The campus is located approximately 6 miles south of downtown Denver.

The university was founded as Colorado Seminary in 1864 by former Territorial Governor John Evans .

As one of the few universities in the USA, all applicants without exception are asked for interviews prior to admission to the degree, which take place in more than 25 cities across the country.
