He also represented Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics .

Career

Troy Terry went through the junior departments of the Colorado Thunderbirds in his homeland in his youth . During the 2013/14 season he played a game for the Indiana Ice in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the country's highest junior league, but was accepted into the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) in the summer of 2014 . With the NTDP based in Ann Arbor , which acts as the central talent factory of the US American Association USA Hockey , the attacker also played in the USHL in the 2014/15 season and also played a number of games outside of organized competitions. At the end of this year, Terry retired due to age out of the NTDP before him Anaheim Ducks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft chose to 148th position.

Terry then enrolled at the University of Denver , returned to his home country and ran from then on for their Denver Pioneers in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). In Denver, he increased his personal statistics for the second year significantly to 45 points scorer in 35 games while with the Pioneers the Frozen Four won and thus the NCAA championship as the best college team of the United States. The following year, the attacker celebrated with the team at least winning the playoffs for the NCHC championship, while he was personally elected to the NCHC Second All-Star Team .

After the end of the college season, the Anaheim Ducks provided him with an entry-level contract in late March before he made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) a day later .

International

Terry made his international debut as part of the NTDP, as its teams also serve as junior national teams. The winger won the bronze medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in 2014 and the gold medal for the United States at the U18 World Cup in 2015 . Another gold medal followed with the U20 national team at the U20 World Cup in 2017 , with the attacker scoring the decisive goal in the shootout in both the semifinals and the final . At the end of December 2017, he was appointed to the US squad for the 2018 Winter Olympics . He benefited from the decision of the National Hockey League not to interrupt the season for this Olympiad and thus ban their players from participating. He hadn't yet signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks and was one of four college players on the team. Finally he reached seventh place in the US selection in Pyeongchang.
