Brendan Guhle (born July 29, 1997 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League since February 2019 and for their farm team , the San Diego Gulls , in the American Hockey League is used.
Career
Guhle played in the midget leagues of the province of Alberta until the summer of 2013 . He then joined the Prince Albert Raiders from the Western Hockey League , who had selected him in third overall position in the previous year's Bantam Draft . The defender was able to collect ten assists in his rookie season . Already in his second year he tripled his points and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2015 in the second round in 51st position by the Buffalo Sabers from the National Hockey League . This immediately took him under contract with an NHL entry contract over three years, but left him in Prince Albert in the WHL. There he went into his third season in the 2015/16 season.
At the end of the season, Guhle gained his first professional experience when he played six games for Buffalo's farm team , the Rochester Americans , in the American Hockey League . In these six games he reached four scorer points . Nevertheless, he was back in the Raiders squad at the beginning of the 2016/17 season . However, this only applied to the first 15 games of the season, as it was given to the title contender Prince George Cougars in November 2016 in exchange for two players and two draft options . Just a month later, Guhle made a brief stint in the roster of the Buffalo Sabers, who used him in three NHL games due to numerous injuries. They then loaned the defender back to the Cougars in the WHL. After the end of the WHL season, Guhle returned to the Americans for six more AHL appearances in April 2017.
With the start of the 2017/18 season , the defender was an integral part of the Sabers organization. Increasingly he came to missions for the Amerks in the AHL, while in the course of his rookie season he also collected minutes in the NHL with the Sabers. In February 2019 it was finally handed over to the Anaheim Ducks together with a first-round right to vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft . In return, they sent Brandon Montour to Buffalo.
International
Guhle represented the Canada Pacific team at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in January 2014 and won the silver medal with the team. In six tournament games he contributed one assist.
