Maxime "Max" Comtois (born January 8, 1999 in Longueuil , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Anaheim Ducks in the National Hockey League since March 2018 and in parallel for their farm team, the San Diego Gulls , in the American Hockey League is used.
Career
Max Comtois was born in Longueuil, a large city in the Montréal metropolitan area . There he was in his youth, among others, for the Lac St-Louis Grenadiers and the Châteauguay Grenadiers on before the Entry Draft of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ) of 2015 to the third position from the Victoriaville Tigres selected . For the Tigres, the winger was active in the LHJMQ, the highest-ranking junior league in his home province of Québec , from the start of the 2015/16 season . As a rookie , he scored 60 points in 62 games, so he was appointed to the LHJMQ All-Rookie Team . With 51 points, he did not quite succeed in confirming this performance the following year, before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2017 in 50th position by the Anaheim Ducks .
For the time being, however, Comtois returned to Victoriaville and increased his personal statistics in the 2017/18 season to 85 scorer points from 54 games, so that he was elected to the second all-star team of the league. He then signed an entry-level contract with the Ducks in March 2018 . As part of the preparation for the 2018/19 season, the Canadian finally won a place in Anaheim's squad, so that he made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in early October 2018 . After ten NHL appearances and seven scorer points, he was sent to Anaheim's farm team , the San Diego Gulls , in the American Hockey League (AHL) before returning to the LHJMQ after another four games there. From then on, the attacker ran for the Voltigeurs de Drummondville , who had already acquired his rights from the Tigres de Victoriaville in June 2018.
At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Comtois switched permanently to the organization of the Ducks and has since been used in regular alternations between the NHL and AHL.
International
At the international level, Comtois gained its first experience as part of the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2015 , with the team taking fourth place. At U18 level, he took part in the U18 World Championships in 2016 and 2017 and in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2016 , in which the Canadian selection also missed the medal ranks. He then represented the Canadian U20 national team at the 2018 U20 World Cup , where he won the gold medal with the team. The following year he led the Canadian squad at the U20 World Cup 2019 as team captain on the ice, but only reached sixth place with the team after being eliminated in the quarter-finals.
