The Kolli , mostly just Kolli , more rarely or outdated called Kolches or Kolcheskopf , is 548  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the middle Odenwald near the triangle of Bavaria , Baden-Württemberg and Hesse . It is the end spur of an approximately 2.5 kilometers long, forested mountain ridge running to the northeast , the main part of which is the Hohe Langhaele ( 548.3  m ).

geography

location

The package is in the border area of Markt Kirchzell in the Bavarian district of Miltenberg in the north, Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg in the southeast and Oberzent in the Hessian Odenwald district in the west. The Bavarian border describes an almost right angle on the package. The southern quarter of the mountain belongs to Mudau in Baden-Württemberg, it reaches up to a few meters from the summit, which is in the district of Markt Kirchzell in Bavaria. The Dreiländerstein , which has marked the Dreiländereck since 1837 , stands around 420 m southwest of the summit and a little northwest against the ridge line . North from the Dreiländerstein to the Hesselbacher Tor , on the Bavarian side of the border, following the contour lines, there is a channel in the slope profile, where the Kolli ends as a protrusion just before the Hessian area begins.

The Kolli jumps almost 500 m from the southwest towards the Kerbtal of the Breitenbach , which is 250 m deep , which is why the gently arched, approximately 25-hectare hilltop drops steeply on three sides. Opposite the Kolli is the Geierskopf ( 529  m ) on the other side of the Breitenbach valley, which towers over the north-eastern slope of the valley. To the southwest in the direction of the Hohen Langhaele, the ridge line of the Kollis lowers in the Baden area to the connecting saddle by about ten meters.

4 km to the northeast of the summit is the village of Ottorfszell , which also belongs to Kirchzell , and about 2.1 km to the east-northeast of its hamlet Breitenbach in the valley of the stream of the same name. 1.5 km to the south-south-east of the Mudau district of Mörschenhardt is Waldleiningen Castle in another basin and 1.5 km to the west-south-west of the summit is the village of Hesselbach, which belongs to Oberzent, in a cleared island on the plateau.

Natural allocation

The Kolli belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Odenwald, Spessart and Südrhön (No. 14), in the main unit Sandstone-Odenwald (144) and in the subunit Central Sandstone Ode forest (144.6) predominantly to the natural area Eastern, divided sandstone Ode forest (Mainseitentäler) (144.61) and its landscape sloping to the west to the natural area Würzberger Platte (144.63).

Itter mud watershed

The watershed between the river systems of the Itter , which drains south to the Neckar , and the Mud , which runs north to the Main, runs past the Kolli to the west . Approaching from the south-south-west on the ridge line of the Hohen Langhaele, which is also the state border between Hessen in the west and Baden-Württemberg in the east, it bends to the north-north-west a little before the Dreiländerstein, descends through the hedge forest to the open plateau around Hesselbach and runs on the High plateau around Hesselbach through the corridor of the Lange Erde and then again a forest to a 505.3 m elevation in it on the Saufeld , after which it moves north again. Most of the area of the plateau west of the dividing line is drained by the Hesselbach to the Itterbach , the upper reaches of the Neckar tributary Itter, while the water of the Kollis to the east of it reaches - from its northwest side via the Breitenbach , from its southeast side via the Teufelsbach - one after the other through the Gabelbach , Mud and Main .

Protected areas

The Bavarian / Hessian Bergstrasse-Odenwald Nature Park in the north and west and the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park in Baden-Württemberg in the south meet at the Kolli .

In the Bavarian parts of the package, parts of the LSG landscape protection area are located within the Bavarian Odenwald Nature Park (formerly a protection zone) ( CDDA no. 396112), which was designated in 1982 and is 304.8465  km² in size.

tourism

The Kolli is just east of the Neckar-Odenwald-Limes , which follows the Itter-Mud watershed. 2.1 km south of the Kolli, in the saddle behind the Hohen Langhaele and in front of the Hohwald ( 552.8  m ), are the remains of the small Roman fort Zwing ( 491.4  m ) and a little south-southeast above it is a Roman watchtower.
