Derek Hough
Derek Hough (born May 17, 1985 in Salt Lake City , Utah ) is an American professional dancer , choreographer , actor and singer .
Life
Derek Hough was born in Salt Lake City , Utah , in May 1985 to Marianne and Bruce Hough. He has four siblings (Sharee, Marabeth, Katherine, and Julianne ) and grew up in a Mormon family . From the subsequent marriages of his parents, he has nine more step-siblings. His cousin is the singer, actor and dancer Ross Lynch .
His parents divorced when Hough was around 12 years old. At that time he and his sister Julianne were trained in dance, singing and acting in London by the dancing couple Corky and Shirley Ballas. His stay was initially limited to one year, but Hough stayed in town for a full 10 years. At that time he attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theater Arts , a renowned art academy. Together with the Ballas' son, Mark, he and his sister formed the pop group 2B1G , which performed in several UK dance competitions and television shows. He then began teaching at the Italia Conti Academy of Theater Arts .
Private life
Hough was in a relationship with British actress India de Beaufort from 2000 to 2008 . During the preparations for season 6 of Dancing With the Stars in March 2008, he met Shannon Elizabeth , with whom he was then together until August 2009. He then had relationships with Cheryl Cole (2010-2011) and Nina Dobrev (2013). He is currently with dancer and "Dancing-With-The-Stars" colleague Hayley Erbert. Hough is an avid animal lover and has a dog named Romie.
Career
Hough is a professional dancer in the fields of Latin dances and ballroom dances . Hough is a former IDSF World Youth Latino Champion (2002) and Blackpool U-21 Latino Champion (2003) for Poland with Aneta Piotrowska. He was awarded the LA Outstanding Dancer of the Year and the New York Dance Alliance Outstanding Dance Award.
Dancing with the Stars
He returned to the United States in 2007 for Dancing with the Stars . He has been part of the TV show since season 5 and has already won six times with his dance partners. The show made him known nationally and internationally. In the 12th season he was not there because Hough made the film Born to Dance during the show . One beat. turned.

For his performance on the show, he has already received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography twice at the Primetime Emmy Awards (2013 and 2015).
Acting
In 2001, Hough got a small role in the Harry Potter film adaptation of The Philosopher's Stone as a Hogwarts student. He also played a small role in Rock of Ages in 2012. Both roles were not mentioned in the credits.
Between 2004 and 2006 he was increasingly seen in musicals. He had the leading roles of Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar (2004) and Ren McCormack in Footloose: The Musical (2006).
In 2013 he was in the dance film Born to Dance - Two Hearts. One beat. seen by Duane Adler alongside BoA as Donny . In 2014, Hough played the supporting role of Noah West in the third season of the ABC drama series Nashville .
