Descemer Bueno (born July 5, 1971 in La Habana Vieja , Havana , Cuba , civil Descemer Bueno Martinez ) is a Cuban composer , singer and musician .

Career

Bueno studied classical guitar and music education . He then worked as a music teacher and songwriter before joining the band of Santiago Feliú and also writing music for them. He later moved to California and taught at Stanford University . He also worked at the University of Cape Town . In 1999 he founded the hip-hop music group Yerba Buena with Andres Levin . Their debut album, President Alien , mainly written by him, was nominated for Best Latin Rock / Alternative Album at the 2004 Grammy Awards .

He has lived in Miami since 2000 . In 2002 his first solo studio album Siete Rayo was released . The soundtrack for the film Havanna Blues , which he helped to compose , received a Goya in the category Best Film Music in 2006 . He also contributed songs and compositions to several soundtracks for American films and TV series. In 2010 he was nominated for a Latin Grammy for the first time . His album Bueno , which was released in 2012, was not released in Cuba, but Bueno passed on some private copies to his family, which in turn were copied and sold and thus spread throughout Cuba. Then his songs were played there on the radio and he received a Cubadisco award for the album .

In 2013 the song Bailando (Tener contigo) was released , which he wrote and first published together with Gente de Zona . It has appeared on several compilations and a music video was made, but it was not released as a single. In the Billboard Hot Latin Songs he was placed 35th. In 2014 the song by Enrique Iglesias featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona was released again. This version became an international success and reached leading positions in various European countries. The song also got into the Billboard Hot 100 . The song was nominated for five Latin Grammys in 2014 , of which the song won three ( Song of the Year , Best Urban Performance and Best Urban Song ).

With the song Súbeme la radio , published again with Enrique Iglesias and Zion y Lennox , he was also able to reach top positions in many charts worldwide.
