German Volleyball Bundesliga 2008/09 (women)
The 2008/09 season of the volleyball Bundesliga began on October 11, 2008 and ended on May 2, 2009. The defending champions were the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . The promoted Aachen , Chemnitz and Stuttgart all played for the first time in the top German league. At the VC Olympia, the national junior team played “out of competition”. In the 2008/09 season there was no more final round due to the increase to 14 teams. NA.Hamburg was renamed VT Aurubis Hamburg in February 2009, parallel to the main sponsor .
The German champions were the Schweriner SC , the Fighting Kangaroos Chemnitz had to relegate .
