Didier André
Didier André (born September 3, 1974 in Lyon ) is a French racing driver .
Career
Didier André started his karting career in 1990 . In 1991 he won the French elite championship and placed tenth in the Formula A World Championship in 1991 and fifth in the overall standings in 1992. After a year in Formula Renault , André drove regularly in the French Formula 3 championship between 1994 and 1996 . His best place in the championship was 13th overall in 1995.
In 1997 the Frenchman moved to the United States , where he was given a contract with the Autosport team. He competed for three seasons in the Indy Light series for the racing team . In 2001 he moved to the Indy Racing League, which was founded in 1994 . Although André was one of the best drivers in the Indy Light series - in 1998 he had achieved second place overall in the championship - he was unable to prevail in the next higher racing series. André returned to Europe and increasingly began to establish himself as a sports car driver. Although he drove two more seasons in the Nissan World Series , he achieved his successes in sports car races. In 2000 he made his debut for ORECA at the Le Mans 24-hour race , where he competed repeatedly until 2010 . His greatest success so far was fourth overall place in 2010, which he achieved together with Soheil Ayari and Andrew Meyrick on an ORECA 01 . In addition to the big endurance races, he was and is also at the start in the Le Mans Series and the American Le Mans Series .
