action

As part of the health reform in Germany , two hospitals located next to each other are given an ultimatum: both clinics have 10 days to show themselves from their best side, after which a commission decides which of the two must be closed during a final tour.

While the bad news came from the two befriended, somewhat bumbling doctors Dr. Steffen Wesemann and Dr. Klaus Kunze of the cozy Eichwaldklinik only triggers outrage about the canceled, well-deserved vacation, but in the mercilessly high-tech-oriented Hospital St. Georg, the slippery Professor Radwanski resorts to illegal methods without hesitation. He gets involved in an illegal organ deal with the head of the examination board, a passionate drinker: Radwanski can keep his clinic if he gets Probst a new, "virgin" liver.

Aside from these criminal activities, the good-natured boss Professor Keller at the Eichwaldklinik has come up with a completely different strategy. With the help of his always cheerful brother-in-law Werner Vierkötter, a "wellness expert", he wants to establish the innovative concept of the "wellness clinic". According to the motto “Nothing's gonna stop us now”, Vierkötter, the cheerful nature of the Rhineland, also condemns the shy Wesemann, the wet research Kunze and the amiable-naive sister Sylvie to get involved in the new wellness oasis with a constant grin and a rain of confetti. When the two want to get a missing blood supply from St. Georg, the self-proclaimed heartthrob Kunze meets his old flame Dr. Christiane Tietz, who is now the lover and playmate of competitor Radwanski.

The situation escalated when Wesemann accidentally prepared a donor liver as an Italian delicacy for himself and Vierkötter, which was actually intended for a transplant in the Eichwaldklinik and also represents Radwanski's last chance at his deal with the head of the examination committee. While Kunze and the disturbed Wesemann try to cover up the faux pas and the failure to perform a liver transplant, Radwanski puts Dr. Tietz to the already lovable Kunze to find out which patient got the coveted liver.

Reviews

  • film-dienst.de:

"Unmistakably, the authors Carsten Strauch and Rainer Ewerrien paid a visit to Robert Altman's MASH hospital and Lindsay Anderson's Britannia Hospital . [...] Although the film [...] only offers a patchwork of standard film situations between a doctor series and clinical thriller à la Coma , but Strauch and Ewerrien [...] have a talent for a precise punch line and can rely on a well-behaved ensemble. "

  • KulturSpiegel 2/2007:

“It's crazy: two totally crazy hospitals compete with happiness and deceit. The apparel on commercial comedy level, which is probably intended as a satire - financed by MTV and various funding sources , among others - is not quite as stupid as feared. "

  • Prisma-Online.de:

“One of those shoddy films that like to push the limits of good taste. Unfortunately, the whole thing is not funny at all. Unless you like it when surgeons rummage through your bowels to find your lost contact lens. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with hospital satire. It's a shame that talents and good actors like Christoph Maria Herbst or Burghart Klaußner give themselves up for such amateurish crap! "

  • Filmstarts.de:

"There are quite often unsuccessful films that develop their own charm due to their modest quality, but" Die Aufschneider "is a consistently fun-free torture - even an experienced Christoph Maria Herbst cannot change anything."
