The nylon loop is a German crime film that was directed by Rudolf Zehetgruber . The film producer Erwin C. Dietrich wanted to build on the success of the Edgar Wallace films with the black and white film . The nationwide cinema release was on July 30, 1963.
action
When the lights go out during a striptease act in London's Esquire Bar, Scotland Yard's Inspector Powers is strangled with a nylon noose. Inspector Harvey and Sergeant Masters take over the investigation. Powers had gone to the nightclub instead of the blackmailed Mr. Wilkins. A little later this one is also strangled with a nylon sling. Wilkins was a member of a charter meeting of the Southern Oil Company currently being held at Elford Manor . Inspector Harvey notes that the rest of the congregation also received ransom letters.
Meanwhile, Harvey and Masters discover other strange occurrences and people at Elford Manor. The young Lord Elford, Sir David, has a relationship with the dubious dancer Nicole from the Esquire bar. The old lord, on the other hand, seems obsessed with scientific research on the mummies from the castle catacombs, in which there is also an eerie figure named Henry. After all, it doesn't take long before other shareholders fall victim to the nylon noose killer.
In the end it turns out that the disfigured Henry once rescued the attractive Jane Stone, who is also among the castle guests, from the burning parents' house. Their uncle Charles Clifton, also a partner in the Southern Oil Company , is an unscrupulous businessman. He killed Jane's parents out of greed and is the wanted killer with the nylon noose. Eventually he is judged by Henry with his own murder weapon.
History of origin
In the course of the Edgar Wallace films by Rialto Film , which have been marketed by Constantin Filmverleih since 1959 , numerous other crime films based on a similar pattern were made in the 1960s. The Swiss film producer Erwin C. Dietrich , who had been working in Germany since 1962, brought such a work to cinemas with Die Nylonschlinge .
Victor Trivas was originally intended to be the director, but he rejected the script and instead wanted to film his own script The Parade of the Dead . Producer Dietrich now hired Rudolf Zehetgruber , who had just created a convincing film of the genre with the Austrian crime thriller The Black Cobra .
The shooting of the film took place in 1963, at the commercial height of the crime film wave. The script was written by Fred Ignor and Thomas Engel . The production of the West Berlin- based Monachia-Film took place with the support of Urania Filmproduktion Zurich .
reception
The FSK released the film on July 25, 1963 for ages 16 and up. On July 30, 1963, it opened in German cinemas. The nylon sling turned out to be a successful pseudo-Wallace. Producer Dietrich participated in the production of the adventure thriller Ein Sarg from Hong Kong . In 1965/66 he realized again a crime thriller in the Edgar Wallace style with Der Würger vom Tower , before devoting himself mainly to the production of soft sex films.
Reviews
“Under the skilful hand of the director Rudolf Zehetgruber, good actors convince in this tough German crime thriller: Dietmar Schönherr as inspector, Helga Sommerfeld, a very distinctive face, as the heiress of a large fortune, and well-known actors like Ernst Schröder and Gustav Knuth as financiers. Laya Raki delivers the sex, Adi Berber the horror. "
"A strip modeled more or less skillfully on Edgar Wallace, which only shows his ominous scenes and confiscated figures in serious incarnation."
"Confused thriller."
