Diedrich Goswin von Bockum-Dolffs , also Dietrich Goswin (born October 19, 1732 in the county of Mark , † October 9, 1805 in Breslau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and inspector general of the Lower Silesian cavalry .

Dietrich Goswin was the youngest son of Johann Florenz Albert von Bockum-Dolffs (born January 14, 1683 - June 11, 1733) and his wife Anna Florentine Elisabeth, born von Bockum called Dolffs. He himself remained unmarried throughout his life, but took part in the upbringing of the children of his brother Franz Johann Gottfried Theodor (1729–1786).

Military career

Bockum-Dolffs was employed in 1750 as an Estandartenjunker in the Gens d'armes regiment of the Prussian army . Since October 3, 1756 lieutenant , he took part in the 1756/63 campaign in the battles near Prague , Kolin , Roßbach , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Kunersdorf , Liegnitz and Torgau , the sieges of Breslau, Olomouc and Dresden as well as the battles near Hoyerswerda , Adelsbach and Reichenbach participated. For his achievements during the Battle of Zorndorf he received the order Pour le Mérite and was promoted to staff cavalry officer on January 13, 1759 and Rittmeister on May 16, 1762 and appointed squadron chief during the war .

On October 7, 1768 he was promoted to major and as such he was appointed regimental commander on January 9, 1779 during the 1778/79 campaign .

In 1788 he received the cuirassier regiment "von der Groeben" from Friedrich Wilhelm II , of which he remained in charge until his death. The following year Bockum-Dolffs became major general . On April 22nd, 1792 he had already taken over the business as General Inspector of the Lower Silesian Cavalry and three months later received the Great Red Eagle Order for his services . As the successor to General Carl Wilhelm von Tschirschky , he was finally appointed inspector on January 2, 1793.

During the Kościuszko uprising , the king ordered him to Poland , where Bockum-Dolffs had supreme command of all Prussian troops in the Krakow and Sandomir voivodeships . On January 5, 1795 he was promoted to lieutenant general.

In the new Prussian province of South Prussia , he received the Strzelce estate near Kutno as a royal endowment in a contract dated August 9, 1796 , which, however, passed into the possession of the Berlin merchant Sigmund Otto Joseph von Treskow the following day for 20,000 talers . In recognition of his many years of service, Friedrich Wilhelm II made him Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle in June 1798 and gave Bockum-Dolffs an annual bonus of 2000 thalers .

Friedrich Wilhelm III. entrusted him in 1798 with the task of reforming the Garde du Corps . His former subordinate Christian Friedrich von Rabenau, who had previously been a major in the von Dolffs regiment, was appointed as the new commander.

When the Prussian army mobilized in the autumn of 1805 , the king ordered Bockum-Dolffs not to be used due to illness. He died shortly afterwards in Breslau.
