In May 2016 he was runner-up in the European Olympic distance. Poljanski competed for Russia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro on August 18 and finished 32nd immediately behind his younger brother.

In May 2019, the 32-year-old finished third at the World Aquathlon Championships in Spain.
