Doris Ebbing

Theodora "Doris" Ebbing (born February 25, 1938 in Hemer , Westphalia ; † November 20, 2009 in Hagen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) was a German local politician who was mayor of her hometown Hemer in the Märkisches Kreis for a few months from 1994 to 1995 . Until her death, she sat for the CDU on the Hemeran city council.

Doris Ebbing came into local politics through the later mayor Hemers and member of the state parliament, Hermann-Josef Geismann . As a housewife and mother, she had previously been involved as the head of the custody at the Brabeck elementary school. So she was initially active as a knowledgeable citizen on the school committee and, among other things, helped to decide on the construction of the new school building. Doris Ebbing, who had joined the CDU four years earlier, had been a full council member without interruption since 1976 . In 1989 she was elected Hemer's first deputy mayor and held that office until 2004.

During this time she twice took over the office of first mayor and thus became the first woman in this position in Hemer and in the Märkischer Kreis. It was not until 1994 that she was appointed successor to Klaus Burda , and a few months later she handed over the post to Heinz Öhmann . In 2003 Ebbing took over the office after Öhmann left to Coesfeld and before Michael Esken took office in the early summer of 2003 a second time.

Doris Ebbing has been a council member in the culture committee since the 1990s and also chaired the committee between 1994 and 2009. She was also a member of the main and finance committee, the association assembly of the Adult Education Center Menden- Hemer- Balve and the association assembly of the Hemer-Menden savings bank association . As an advisory member, she was a member of the supervisory board of the State Horticultural Show Hemer 2010 .

In 1999, Doris Ebbing was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon for her commitment to local politics . In 2014, a street in the Hemeraner “Stadtquartier” was named after her. The trained pharmacist assistant was widowed and had three sons.
