Ducati SportClassic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ducati SportClassic is a motorcycle model series by the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati , which was presented at the motorcycle fair in Tokyo in 2003 and was produced from 2005 to 2010.

The models in the series are characterized by a classic retro look. There were two basic models and a special model named after Paul Smart . The SportClassic models were initially not a resounding success despite positive reviews.

Models

The models are powered by an air-cooled two-cylinder V-engine (Ducati designation because of the installation position: L-engine) with 992 cm³, timing belt-driven desmodromic valve control (two valves), double ignition and 86 to 91 hp (engine designation 1000DS). Due to the spoked wheels, all models are equipped with tubular tires.

Sport 1000

The 2006 Sport 1000 is a classically built, single-seat sports motorcycle with a non-adjustable 43mm upside-down fork from Marzocchi , clip-ons and a single Sachs shock absorber at the rear. It has 17 "spoke wheels with aluminum rims and a dry clutch. In 2007 there was a two-seater version with an oil bath clutch and a modified exhaust system (called Biposto).

Sport 1000 S

The Sport 1000 S was offered from 2007 to 2009 . The model has a half-shell fairing that can be supplemented with additional elements to create a full fairing in the style of the racing motorcycles of the early 1970s. Here, too, there was initially a monoposto, then also a biposto version.

Paul Smart 1000 LE

In 2006, the Paul Smart 1000 LE , limited to around 2000 copies, was presented, which was modeled on the motorcycle with which Paul Smart won the Imola 200-mile race in 1972 . This model has a turquoise painted frame and a chassis with fully adjustable Öhlins fork, Öhlins rear shock absorber and a steering damper. The tank, seat hump and paneling are silver.

GT 1000

GT 1000 from 2006

The GT 1000 is based on the same components as the Sport 1000 , but is aimed at touring riders. In addition to the rear double shock absorbers, the model has touring handlebars that allow you to sit upright, and chrome-plated steel rims instead of the light alloy rims of the other models. The clutch runs in an oil bath.

The Touring special model has higher handlebars, a windshield, chrome-plated front and rear fenders and a small chrome-plated luggage rack. Side pockets made of synthetic leather and an even higher handlebar were available from the factory.
