Dwayne Earl Evans (born January 24, 1992 in Bolingbrook , Illinois ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Evans started a professional career in Germany one year late in 2015 . After a year with the second division Gladiators Trier, he played in the top German league from the 2016/17 basketball league, first for the Gießen 46ers and then for the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and Ratiopharm Ulm.

Career

After graduating from Nequa Valley High School in Naperville , Evans got a scholarship from Saint Louis University , for which he played from 2010 on the college team Billikens in the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) of the NCAA . In his first year he was able to draw attention to himself with 8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and was named into the “All- Rookie Team” of the A-10. After the Billikens had an exceptional negative season record in Evans 'first season, they returned to a positive record in Evans' second season and also secured qualification for the national NCAA finals for the first time in twelve years . In the final round they lost after the opening win against the Memphis Tigers in the following game to the highest placed Michigan State Spartans in their region with 61:65, with the eventual Olympic champion and NBA All-Star Draymond Green managed a double-double . After the death of trainer Rick Majerus the following December, his former assistant Jim Crews was able to keep the Billikens on the road to success and after winning the title in the season's main round and in the "Conference Tournament" of the A-10, they again reached the finals, in which they this time in second game surprisingly lost to the lower-rated Oregon Ducks . In Evans' last NCAA season, the Billikens again achieved the best season record of the A-10, but lost in the "Conference Tournament" as defending champions their opening game against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies . They were able to win their next game in the NCAA finals against NC State Wolfpack after overtime before they lost their second game on the opening weekend of the NCAA finals against defending champions Louisville Cardinals for the third time in a row . For the second time in a row, Evans was individually named an “All-A-10 First Team” and scored a total of 1,499 points and 942 rebounds for the Billikens over four years.

After Evans was not selected by any NBA club in the 2014 NBA Draft , he initially took a break due to complaints with the patellar tendon . It was not until the following season that he imitated his former teammate Cory Remekun and began a professional career in the German 2nd basketball division . One class higher in the ProA 2015/16 Evans played for the Gladiators from Trier , whose predecessor club had played first class for a long time. Despite a one-year break, Evans scored a double-double in almost every second game and only narrowly missed such a mark at the end of the season with almost 16 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The Moselaner reached the play-offs for promotion to the top division straight away when they started again in the second division in sixth place . After the smooth first round success over the Kirchheim Knights , they missed the immediate return of a Trier team to the basketball Bundesliga (BBL) without a win in the semi-final series against Science City Jena . In the top division Evans was still allowed to play in the 2016/17 BBL season after he got a contract with last year's climber 46ers from Gießen . As in the previous year, the Giessen team reached ninth place when they returned to the Bundesliga and only narrowly missed the play-offs for the German championship. One place ahead of them was the MHP Riesen from Ludwigsburg , who became Evans' new employer for the 2017/18 BBL season . With the MHP Giant, Evans also took part in international club competitions for the first time and made it into the main draw of the 2017/18 Champions League via qualifying rounds . After the MHP giants had just barely failed in the quarter-finals at the premiere of this competition last year, this time they made it into the final tournament with Evans after winning the knockout rounds over the German rivals EWE Baskets Oldenburg and medi Bayreuth .

At the end of June 2018, he moved from Ludwigsburg to Ratiopharm Ulm within the Bundesliga . There Evans achieved team maximums in several statistical categories in the 2018/19 game, namely in points (14.3 / game), rebounds (6.4 / game) and blocked throws (0.5 / game). He moved into the championship round of the Bundesliga with Ulm, but lost there in the first round to Alba Berlin with 0-3 wins.

After a year with the Italian first division club Dinamo Sassari (21 league games: 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds / stake), he accepted an offer from the Japanese team Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa at the end of August 2020.
