King came through the Beardy's Blackhawks in 2005 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes , for whom he played in the Western Hockey League until 2009 . During this time he was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft in 107th position by the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League .

After completing his junior career, he signed his first professional contract with the Kings in May 2009 and ran from the 2009/10 season for their farm teams , the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League and the Ontario Reign from the ECHL . From the fall of 2010 he was finally a regular for the Monarchs and made his NHL debut for Los Angeles during the 2010/11 season . There he became a regular player in the course of the following season and won the Stanley Cup twice with the Kings in 2012 and 2014 . Shortly before the trade deadline in early March 2017, it was given to the Canadiens de Montréal in exchange for a conditional four-round vote in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft .

In the summer of 2017, King became a free agent after Montréal failed to make him a new offer. He therefore moved to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the Continental Hockey League in August 2017 . A year later he was signed by the EC Graz 99ers .

International

King represented Team Canada Western at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2005 and 2006 . In 2005 he won the gold medal with the team, but remained pointless and received no penalty minutes in six missions. A year later, he posted five assists in as many games and got six penalty minutes. He also took part in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2006 , where he also won gold and stayed without points.
