Ebersberg is a district of Erbach in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Ebersberg is located about five kilometers south of the core town of Erbach in the red sandstone area of the Odenwald . The place was created on a small hill east of the Mümling and north of a side valley a few hundred meters long. The Mümling in the west, the Himbachel in the south, the Ebersberger Felsenmeer in the east and the Kalteberg with the Katzenklinge in the north form the boundary of the district. The district area is 395 hectares (1961), 256 hectares of which are forested. The valleys near the village are free of forests. The Ebersberger Kopf ( 440  m above sea level ) occupies the southern part of the district. East of the sea of ​​rocks, the district reaches a height of 540  m above sea level. NN .

In the north and northwest are the Erbacher districts Schönnen, Günterfürst and Haisterbach (3 km), in the south there are Marbach (1 km) and Hetzbach (3 km) as well as the Himbächel Viaduct . The existence of the place is documented under the name Ebersperg since 1443. In 1806 the place came with the county of Erbach to the Grand Duchy of Hesse . Ebersberg was incorporated into the city of Erbach on December 31, 1971 on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse .

Regular events

• Kerwe Ebersberg, 4th weekend in August. Up until the 1980s, the Kerwe had a custom of burning a Kerwe doll. This kerwé doll was made of straw, had the shape of a human being and was carried through the village during the kerwee parade before it was then publicly burned. Economy and Infrastructure

On the other side of the Mümling, the federal road 45 leads past Ebersberg. It can be reached from the village via a bridge. The Odenwaldbahn ascends east of the town center on the slopes of the Mümlingtal to the Himbächel Viaduct . The next train station is Hetzbach. The Nibelungensteig crosses the village and leads past the Himbächel Viaduct and the Felsenmeer.

The place has its own small outdoor pool, which was renovated in 2004 as part of the village renewal . Furthermore, a village community center was created from the schoolhouse and there is a sports field and a children's playground. The cemetery has a funeral hall .

In addition to a timber trade ( Holzland Seibert) and a sawmill, there are also two farms in Ebersberg that run agriculture as a sideline .
