Eduard Revniaga (born July 31, 1972 ) is a former Israeli - Latvian ice hockey player and current coach who was under contract for much of his career at Monfort Ma'alot in the Israeli ice hockey league. His son Mark is also an Israeli national ice hockey player.

Career

Eduard Revniaga began his career in his native Latvia, where he played for two years for SK LSPA / Riga in the local ice hockey league. From 1996 he played in the Israeli ice hockey league , where he was initially on the ice at HC Metulla . In 1999 he won the national championship with the club from Israel's northernmost town . He then moved to Monfort Ma'alot , with whom he was again Israeli champions in 2000, 2002 and 2003. From 2005 to 2007 he played for the Haifa Hawks and was able to win two more championships with the club from the Mediterranean coast. He then returned to Ma'alot and won his seventh title with Monfort in 2010. He ended his career there in 2013.

International

After his Aliyah , Revniaga made his debut for Israel at the D World Cup in 1997 . Also in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 he played in the D group of the world championships. After switching to the current division system, he was in Division II in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2007 , 2009 and 2010. At the 2006 World Cup , he played with the Israeli selection in Division I. There the men were with the Star of David on the chest but overwhelmed and immediately descended without winning a point and with a goal difference of 3:47.

Coaching career

Revniaga also worked as a trainer during his active career. He was in charge of the Israeli U18 selection at the 2000 World Cup in Europe Division 2 and at the 2015 World Cup in Division III as an assistant coach and at the 2003 World Cup also in Division III as head coach. When Israel reported a U20 selection for the first time in almost 20 years at the 2016 World Cup , he was also the assistant coach of the team that played in Division III in 2017 and 2018 . He performed the same job for the men's national team at the 2011 World Cup in Division III and the 2018 World Cup in Division II.

At club level, Revniaga has been the head coach of Monfort Ma'alot in the Israeli ice hockey league since 2013 .
