The Egyptian Premier League 1979/80 was the 24th season of the Egyptian Premier League , the highest Egyptian championship in football . Champion became al Ahly Cairo for the 16th time , the number of teams was increased from 12 to 16. Tanta FC , Suez El-Riyadi , Ala'ab Damanhour and Factory 36 were relegated. Al Koroum , Esco FC , Tanta FC and Factory 36 were new to the league .
