Elbe-Clásico

As Elbe Clásico or elf Clásico is the soccer derby in East Germany between the clubs 1. FC Magdeburg and SG Dynamo Dresden called. The name is a suitcase word based on the El Clásico on the one hand , and on the Elbe , the river that flows through both state capitals , on the other .
history
The Elb-Clásico has its importance due to the rivalry between the two clubs, 1. FC Magdeburg and SG Dynamo Dresden, the encounters are high-risk games , their large following across the city limits and into the region and the many successes of the in the past Teams. Together with record champions BFC Dynamo, both were considered the most successful football clubs in the GDR . Magdeburg was the only football club in the GDR to win a European Cup , the 1974 European Cup Winners ' Cup, Dresden won eight times ( 1953 , 1971 , 1973 , 1976 , 1977 , 1978 , 1989 and 1990 ), Magdeburg three times ( 1972 , 1974 and 1975 ) the GDR championship and both were record cup winners in the FDGB cup with seven wins each (Magdeburg 1964 , 1965 , 1969 , 1973 , 1978 , 1979 , 1983 and Dresden 1952 , 1971 , 1977 , 1982 , 1984 , 1985 , 1990 ) .
As of April 2020, there were a total of 81 games between 1. FC Magdeburg and SG Dynamo Dresden. Of these 81 games, Dresden was able to win 39, Magdeburg won 22 times and draws 20 times. The games took place between the first, the DDR-Oberliga , and the fourth division and in the FDGB Cup.
