The Elbrighäuser Bach rises on the eastern roof of the Rothaargebirge in the Elbrighauser forest belonging to the Ederbergland hinterland . Its source is about 1 km east-southeast of the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse in the urban area of Battenberg , about 8.7 km northwest of the city center; Alertshausen, a district of Bad Berleburg, lies directly across the border in Westphalia . It is located between the Hohe Warte ( 644.8 m ) in the west and the Heidenköpf (approx. 610 m ) in the east at about 560 m above sea level. NN .
Initially, the stream , whose wooded valley with most of the side valleys is designated as the Elbrighäuser Bach nature reserve , flows in a north-easterly direction, whereby it first meets the Great ( 611.2 m ) and Little Buchenfürst ( 556 m ) with the Oberruhn desert between these elevations ( also called Rügene ) and then passes the largely demolished Elbrighausen forester's house at the site of the Elbrighausen desert .
The brook then turns to the south-east below the Neuludwigsdorf district of Bromskirchen , which is located about 1.3 km northeast of the Bachtal on a high plateau, with the border between Battenberg and Bromskirchen running along the northern edge of the valley and partly as far as the brook. Then the border between Battenberg and Allendorf runs along the northern edge of the valley and also extends in sections to the stream. Shortly after he crossed the military bridge ( 371 m ) to then into the well to Hinterländer Ederbergland belonging Hatzfelder Bergland cross over. There, in addition to other ponds , it passes the Elbrighauser pond (approx. 340 m ) that it feeds .
Then, the Elbrighäuser stream passes beneath on the boundary of the protected areas Elbrighäuser Bach and Eder knee on Auhammer at Battenberg by the Battenberger district Dodenau leading to Battenberg country road 3382. A few meters below it opens it around 2.3 km northwest of the Battenberger Kernstadt when Weiler Füllnhausen to about 298 m above sea level NN in Fulda influx Eder , the one where river loop forms; Opposite its mouth to the south, and thus beyond the Eder, rises the Eisenberg ( 499 m ).
