The 2009/10 season was the sixth season of the Elite Women's Hockey League , a women's ice hockey league . In the sixth year of its existence, a total of six teams from Austria , Italy , Slovenia , Germany and Slovakia took part between 6 September 2009 and 16 January 2010 . The sixth champion of the league was the ESC Planegg / Würmtal , which was the first German participant to win the title.
The defending champion HC Slavia Prague and runner-up OSC Berlin are not participating for financial reasons. Agordo Hockey returned after a short-term elimination at the beginning of last season . A team from Croatia - as well as from the Czech Republic - refrained from participating for the first time since the country joined the league.

The six participants played the places in a round and a half in the league system , so that each team played 15 games. So two teams met three times during the season. The team with the most points won the title in the end. A team received three points for a win and two points for a win after extra time . The losing team received no points after regular time, but one point if they lost after extra time.
