Enos H. Nebecker

Enos H. Nebecker (born June 26, 1836 in Covington , Indiana , † January 6, 1913 ibid) was an American banker and government official.

Career

Enos H. Nebecker was born in Fountain County before the economic crisis hit in 1837 . His parents moved there from Piqua ( Ohio ). His father was a banker and farmer. He was also a member of the Whig Party and later the Republican Party . Enos H. Nebecker attended a community school and then studied for a year at Asbury University (now DePauw University ). Then he returned home, where he worked for his father. Nebecker was elected Fountain County Auditor in 1870 and held the post for four years. In 1880 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention , where he supported James G. Blaine and, after his departure, James A. Garfield . He later campaigned for Benjamin Harrison . President Harrison named him Treasurer of the United States in 1891 . Nebecker held the post from April 25, 1891 to May 31, 1893. He died about a year and a half before the outbreak of the First World War .
