The Rötlinge ( Entoloma ) or also Belllings and Zärtlinge are a genus of mushrooms from the family of the Rötlingrelatives (Entolomataceae).

features

Like all kinds of red bloom relatives, red blooms have pink spore powder. But unlike other genera in the family, they have angular spurs . Many species have cystids .

It is a very large genus with over 200 species in Europe, which is divided into several sub-genera. The sub-genus Entoloma (red rot in the narrower sense) contains relatively large species that resemble knightly lobsters in habit , with bulging lamellae . To Leptonia include species with genabeltem hat and often blue colors. Nolanea (bells), on the other hand, has delicate shapes with conical-bell-shaped hats and lamellae that have grown upwards. Small species with sloping lamellae belong to the subgenus Eccilia . Some authors have already tried to put the sub-genera in the generic rank, but recent molecular-biological research confirm their affiliation with Entoloma .

ecology

Red rot is found in many habitats, for example in forests, meadows and moors up to the alpine level. Most of the species are saprobionts and live in the ground, a few decompose dead wood. However, some also form mycorrhiza with trees from the rose family such as apples , pears , prunus and hawthorns . These include, for example, the sloe rötling , shield rötling , striped spring rötling and silver-gray rötling (elm companion).
