Career

Career start in Sweden and championship win

Johansson started playing football at Falkenbergs FF . After he had gone through the various youth teams there, he moved up to the professional squad in the second division season in 2008 . After his debut in the Superettan , he quickly established himself under coach Thomas Askebrand as a regular on the club's defense, with whom he placed in the top half of the table. With good performances in the second division season 2011 , he drew higher class attention. Shortly before the end of the summer transition period , he was signed by the Gothenburg first division club GAIS , with which he signed a contract that was valid until the end of 2014. By the end of the season he was in the starting line-up in his new club in seven games in the Allsvenskan . The 2012 season was not very successful for him and the team around Richard Ekunde , Fredrik Lundgren , Linus Tornblad and Jakob Olsson . As bottom of the table, the club was relegated to the second division. Nevertheless, he was voted GAIS Player of the Year in November.

After relegation Johansson left GAIS and moved to Malmö FF within the Allsvenskan. Initially only a supplementary player, he benefited from an injury to Filip Helander during the 2013 season , so that he was used in 17 championship games and was one of the champions at the end of the season. His good performances brought him into the focus of Svenska Fotbollförbundet , national coach Erik Hamrén nominated him in January as a successor to the squad for a January tour of the national team. In the 2-0 win over Iceland through goals from Robin Quaison and Malmö club-mate Guillermo Molins , he made his debut in Abu Dhabi in the national team. In the following season he again established himself at the top of the table with the team, under coach Åge Hareide he also reached the group stage of the UEFA Champions for the first time in the club's history, alongside Isaac Kiese Thelin , Markus Rosenberg , Magnus Eriksson , Ricardinho and Anton Tinnerholm League .

Moved abroad and won titles in Denmark

In July 2015 Johansson moved to the Belgian first division club KAA Gent for a transfer fee of € 1.7 million , but left this club after only nine league games in January 2016 and joined FC Copenhagen . Under coach Ståle Solbakken he was a regular player straight away and won the double from the Danish championship and the national cup at the end of the season . In mid-May, national coach Hamrén nominated him for the European Championship tournament in France. There he was substituted on in the first game against Ireland with a 0-1 deficit at halftime. In the two remaining meetings with Italy and Belgium he was on the starting team. After that, the team retired as bottom of the group. In the 2016/17 season he was able to celebrate the double again with FC Copenhagen and also took part in the Champions and Europa League .

Return to Sweden

In June 2018, he moved back to Djurgårdens IF for family reasons .
