Ernst Wempe

Ernst Wempe (* 12. December 1881 in Oldenburg ; † 27. March 1949 in Schwerin ) was a German lawyer , mayor in Brake and mayor in Schwerin.

Life

Wempe attended a humanistic grammar school and studied law in Marburg from 1900 and later in Berlin . He passed the legal trainee and assessor examination in Oldenburg. In 1911 he was in Greifswald with a dissertation on "The place of the conversion claims" doctorate .

Wempe served as a one-year volunteer in the Minden Field Artillery Regiment No. 58 in 1904/05 and became a lieutenant in the reserve in 1908. During the First World War he did military service on the Western Front and spent six months on the Macedonian Front . He was promoted to captain of the reserve. Wempe received the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class and the Friedrich August Cross 1st and 2nd class.

In 1910 Wempe worked in the Chamber of Commerce in Oldenburg . From 1911 he was mayor of Brake. After he had been city councilor from 1919 and mayor of Schwerin in 1926, Wempe was elected mayor of Schwerin on May 9, 1933, which he held until 1937. He belonged to the NSDAP . Wempe was a member of the board of directors of the Mecklenburg Municipal Association. In December 1937 he was appointed President of the Mecklenburg State Insurance Company, which is based in Schwerin .
