Ernst Ludwig Otto Leopold Konrad von Schweinitz (born September 5, 1785 in Nieder-Schellendorf , † May 25, 1857 in Dessau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Ernst was the son of Karl Ernst Siegfried von Schweinitz (04/04/1747–1793) and his wife Helene Elisabeth, born von Eicke (02/11/1753 - 02/07/1835). His father was a cornet a. D. , most recently in Hussar Regiment No. 1 , Herr auf Schellendorf, State Elder and March Commissioner in Kreisgoldberg-Haynau district.

Career

Schweinitz attended the Friedrich-Gymnasium in Breslau and entered on April 3, 1799 Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "von Hohenlohe" the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to second lieutenant until the beginning of November 1803 . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Jena and after retreating in 1807 he joined the "Marwitz" Freikorps . After the peace of Tilsit he received his resignation on April 16, 1808 with the right to wear his old army uniform.

With the start of the Wars of Liberation , Schweinitz returned to the army. On June 1, 1813, he was employed as captain of the 2nd Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment and acted as adjutant to Prince Christian von Anhalt-Pless. During the siege of Glogau he received a commendation and fought in the battles near Dresden and Kulm .

After the war he joined the Guard Landwehr Battalion in Breslau on February 20, 1816 as a company commander , was aggregated as a major in the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment on January 18, 1818, and finally on May 29, 1818 with the leadership of the Guard Landwehr Battalion. On October 18, 1818, he was transferred to the 34th Infantry Regiment as a regular staff officer . On March 17, 1820, he joined the 36th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander . On March 30, 1836 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and commissioned on August 18, 1837 to lead the 37th Infantry Regiment . There he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1838 , and appointed regimental commander on May 19, 1838. On January 18, 1840, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class.

On March 29, 1842, he was first with 1,750 thaler board for disposition made and then got on August 11, 1842 award of the character as a major general his farewell with the previous board.

On January 25, 1843, he received permission to accept a position as ducal Anhalt-Koethenscher chamberlain and court marshal and to keep his pension. He was awarded the House Order of Albrecht the Bear on September 19, 1844 . Even after the Duke's death, he remained with the Duchess as Court Marshal. In 1852 he was appointed Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John.

He died on May 25, 1857 in Dessau and was buried there.

Schweinitz married Karoline Christiane Tugendreich von Mauschwitz (1788–1863) in Breslau on September 12, 1808. The couple had several children:
