Eros is Eros Ramazzotti's first best-of album . It was released on October 28, 1997, the singer's 34th birthday. In the first two days after its release, the album sold around 1.2 million times in Europe alone. In Germany the album was triple platinum in 1999 for 1.5 million units sold, and in the USA in 2000 it was multiplied for more than 200,000 albums sold.

Songs

The album contains five original recordings and nine remixes of various tracks from Ramazzotti's fifteen-year career with Ancora un minuto di sole and Quanto amore were two newly recorded pieces. The first hit single by the artist Terra Promessa from 1984 was remixed in the style of a hip-hop song. The first single Quanto amore sei was released in advance on September 25, 1997. The title Cose della vita was re-recorded as a vocal duet with Tina Turner and expanded to include rock music elements. To the song was in October 1997 in the French mountain village of Peille ( Canton L'Escarène ) near Turner's house on the Côte d'Azur , a music video was added. Ramazzotti had already spoken to him about the collaboration with Andrea Bocelli and both artists agreed that only the ten-minute ballad Musica è could be used because it best suited the tenor of Bocelli.

Reviews

Jason Birchmeier from Allmusic writes that although it is unusual for a Best Of to re-record most of the tracks, it is precisely the new recordings that make the album interesting. This sword Eros as a brilliant new album, the synth pop of the 1980s was adult contemporary - pop music faded. Only the two new pieces placed at the end are less remarkable.
