The Evangelical Church Trier-Ehrang is the church for the parish Ehrang of the evangelical parish Ehrang, which has been independent since 1946, and one of three churches and nine preaching offices of this parish. The formerly independent town of Ehrang is now a district in the north-west of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

Inside the church

The parish came into being from the 19th century onwards, primarily through the influx of Protestant employees from the railway systems, iron and steel works and other industrial companies. The 700 km² area of the parish Ehrang with about 6500 parish members bordered the city of Trier, this comprised about 80 percent. With the incorporation of the formerly independent city of Ehrang into Trier, the districts of Trier west of the Moselle now also belong to the Trier-Ehrang parish. The community area extends from the mouth of the Sauer to Trittenheim and from the Eifel to the Hunsrück . About 10 percent of the population of this large area are Protestant.

The church, which was built in 1928-30, is made of red sandstone blocks in functional shapes. It was designed in functional forms by the architects Heinrich Rettig and Kellermann. The building consists of the parish hall in the basement, the church hall above, the rectory and the eye-catching square church tower that is attached to the north-east corner of the church.

The worship room is a simple, rectangular, flat-roofed hall with tall rectangular windows. During the renovation in the mid-1980s, the monumental mural of Christ the Resurrection behind the altar was removed, the altar, which was originally raised by 6 steps, was lowered and the pulpit was moved to the left from the central axis.
