Evangelical Trinity Church (Deuselbach)
The Evangelische Trinitatiskirche Deuselbach is the Evangelical church in Deuselbach , a municipality in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is a church of the parish Thalfang - Morbach of the Rheinische Landeskirche in the parish of Trier.
history
A chapel is said to have stood on St. Anna's hill between Oberdorf and Unterdorf since the Middle Ages, and was demolished in 1803 during the French occupation.
In 1952 a church hall was set up in the old school building. The idea of building a church was born from the beautiful landscape below the Erbeskopf , the newly laid out cemetery with its bell tower and the increasing tourism in the Hunsrück at the time. The local congregation encouraged the construction of the church in 1965 and gave the congregation a piece of land for this purpose. The presbytery decided to build it in 1968, which was approved by the regional church in 1970. The building construction department of the Bernkastel-Wittlich district administration under the direction of senior building officer Remy was commissioned with the planning and construction management. The implemented design comes from the graduate civil engineer Walter Stablo from Bernkastel-Kues, who was also assigned the project implementation.
The church was dedicated on Trinity Sunday, May 27, 1972. Construction work was completed in 1974. On June 3, 2012, the 40th anniversary of the Trinity Church was celebrated.
Architecture and equipment
The church is built in the shape of a tent . From the outside, through the rubble stones, it appears like a solid castle that offers refuge. Otto Schmidt created the wrought-iron cross on the slate roof. The sculptor Rothe designed the church door with the baptism of the eunuch from Ethiopia ( Acts 8,26-39 EU ) and the pulpit with the parable of the fourfold seed ( Mk 4,3-9 EU ). The stained glass windows by the artist Manfred Freitag indicate the Last Supper with their ears of corn and grapes. There is also an older wooden cross by Klaus Rothe and a picture of the crucified Christ by Horst Keuper according to Grünewald .
tower
The concrete tower is older than the church. It was built in 1961 for the newly laid out cemetery and is the successor to a wooden construction from 1949.
use
Today (2015) the church belongs to the parish Thalfang of the Protestant parish Thalfang-Morbach. There is currently a service about once a month and on festive days. Further church services, also in the open air, are organized in cooperation with the Hunsrückhaus and the Hunsrück National Park .
